For my experience my instant thought was "Where do I even begin?!" . I tried doing so much research on how to even start my daughter on a schedule let alone get myself on a schedule. This was one of the most frustrating times for me especially being a first time mother who was exhausted for months.
My experience probably is not the best to relate to but when she hit 3 months she was finally sleeping through the night and taking her three naps throughout the day. I thought I was on top of the world and I had her down on a schedule. I was wrong. I was so focused on her getting sleep that I didn't really form a schedule, I just let her sleep whenever she felt like it.
Throughout the months she did a lot better and has been AMAZING at sleeping through the night and taking naps like she was supposed to but then...
8-9 months later...she went through the dreadful "Sleep Regression". This was the worst two weeks ever, I literally felt like I had a newborn all over again. Of course I did more research, and it lasts between 2-6 weeks possibly longer depending on the baby. Typically babies go through this at 4 months, 8-10 months, and 18 months. Fortunately for me she never went through that at 4 months but I had a rude awakening at 8 months.
I had no idea what was going on. My daughter has 6 teeth already, at this point I figured maybe she's going through another teething stage. She was NOT napping at all for two whole weeks and when she did it was for 10-20 minutes.
Lucky for me, I am a huge Pinterest fan, and of course they always have helpful tips on basically everything. So I found a pin regarding a sleep/nap schedule you can go by when babies go through sleep regression. The main focus was to make sure you stuck to your schedule for them AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. It is so easy to create bad habits when your child is going through this.
I will be posting a pin that helped me through sleep regression. Hope it helps!
